Cyprus Computer Parts Suppliers
The following piece reflects on my personal opinion regarding the companies falling under the above category but can easily be applied to a wider range of companies.
The object to be studied here will be the website of the company named Bionic. This is a well known company based in Nicosia, Cyprus. Their website can be found at http://www.bionic.com.cy.
Of all suppliers this is the only company that has a web presence. They use XOOPS, an open source web content management system which requires PHP and is currently running under apache 1.** and on a windows 2003 server box which I assume, based on their IP address, is at the end of an ADSL line somewhere on the island (hint: their offices in Nicosia) or at the CYTA offices (which means they are paying a lot of money). Notice how they fail to give credit to the open source package they are using. They also fail to give credit to the theme creator.
As we can see the English language is not appreciated here as the people did not even bother using a text editor with spell checking capabilities such as Microsoft Word. The advertisement banners they use here look like they have been prepared without much detail in appearance.
The company offers no means of contacting them, such as a contact email. Even my sister has an email account, come one people!!! (sounds stupid but you get the point). It appears that their website aims at certain people within the company and a price list in the form of an excel sheet if I am not mistaken.
Are these people professional? Can we trust them for our day to day activities either as individuals or as businesses? Their website, which is the image of their company to most technical people is unprofessional and looks like it was prepared and administered by a high school student who had some spare time to learn a few things.
What else can we conclude about these people? Due to their lack of professionalism we can see that there are issues of trust arising which prevent us from feeling assured that these people can provide the sort of service required by companies such as Bionic.
They have taken a step forward unlike their rivals which is a good thing for them, but seeing what I have seen there, they are better off not having a website at all. As for the rest of the companies of this category in Cyprus, I wonder what sort of services they offer at the end of the day. Complete lack of professionalism.
Conclusion: People pay professionals to do these sorts of jobs, and they deliver systems which offer services to their end users, and are esthetically pleasing. The Bionic Web Team does not appear to be one of them. Get the hint, pay people to get the job done, don’t be cheap.
Can Google Fight?!?!
Well not really but you can find out more at GoogleFight.com. Google will search for 2 things (words such as good / evil etc) and depending on which returns the most results you will have a winner! It’s quite amusing!
